How Midlands Air Ambulance Charity uses XY Locate to optimise donation collections
About Midlands Air Ambulance
Midlands Air Ambulance Charity operates and funds three air ambulances and three critical care cars covering six Midlands counties including Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, the West Midlands and Worcestershire.
Since 1991, they have responded to more than 70,000 missions, making them one of the busiest air ambulance services in the UK.
It operates from strategically located regional airbases at RAF Cosford in Shropshire, Strensham in Worcestershire and Tatenhill in Staffordshire. Each aircraft carries a crew comprising a pilot, two critical care paramedics (CCPs) or a critical care paramedic and pre-hospital emergency medicine (PHEM) doctor, plus full life-support medical equipment.
The Requirement
The need to optimise donation tin collections.
Route Optimisation
The XY Locate web platform allows Midlands Air Ambulance Charity to optimise its donation tin collections across six counties. This was previously a paper-based process. XY Locate takes the planned collections' locations and generates the best sequence and route within seconds. This results in optimal time, mileage, fuel, and efficiency savings. Jobs and routes are instantly sent to the driver device for collection.
Real Time Tracking
Midlands Air Ambulance Charity wanted real time visibility of its collection drivers' locations to help identify which sites were visited and ensure driver safety when transporting monetary donations. The platform allowed customisation of the mobile device so that valuable data was gathered in the field by its drivers. This has helped determine which sites have or require donation tins.
Digital Processes
XY helped Midlands Air Ambulance Charity with a seamless flow of real-time information from the driver application to the head-office web platform. Midlands Air Ambulance Charity was able to see successful collections with supporting media providing a digital audit. The pre-trip inspection has also allowed the charity to maintain and monitor its vehicle health, a process which was also previously done by paper.
